Mr Chris Hatfield
Chris’s entire career has been spent in the finance industry, principally in the trustee sector. He started work with Westminster Bank in Leeds in 1968, dealing with wills, trusts and investment management. His career then took him to Jersey, West London, the City, the West End, Gibraltar and finally Guernsey, where he became involved with corporate trusts. He looked after large pension funds and unit trusts as trustee and custodian of the assets and among other things his duties involved monitoring the performance of investment managers, interpreting pension fund rules and reviewing new trust deeds, service agreements etc. NatWest decided to sell the department to Royal Bank of Canada, where he worked for a year before being poached to head up the new Guernsey operation of a large American Bank. After 5 years he and his wife decided to give up the offshore life and return to the mainland to be nearer their family.
Chris’s interests are reading, crosswords, travel, gardening and sport, although not as a participant any more. He holds a season ticket at Huddersfield Town and also enjoys watching rugby, cricket and athletics.
