Mr J Neville Sheard
Neville joined the Council of Trustees in 1985 and chaired the trustees for 12 years. He was then a solicitor in practice in Huddersfield with Armitage Sykes, specialising in trust and estate work. He was also a member of the society of trust and estate practitioners.
Neville was involved in the early days of the Forum of Hospice Chairmen, sitting as a committee member for about 5 years. He held chairmanship of Yorkshire Hospice Peer Review, an organisation set up to spread good practice amongst hospices involving 12 Yorkshire hospices and a further (later) 10 in East Anglia. More recently this was taken over by Help the Hospices.
He spent 6 years as a non-executive Director of West Yorkshire Metropolitan Ambulance Service and as Vice-Chairman of the Board.
He has fairly wide experience of charity law and, for example, did the legal work to form the Yorkshire Air Ambulance after his retirement as a Director.
