Mr John C Denham

John was born and bred in Huddersfield, attending the then Huddersfield College in New North Road.  He joined the Post Office in London in 1957 and, apart from National Service where he served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the Lancashire Fusiliers in Cyprus during the EOKA emergency he spent the next 38 years in various locations with the Post Office.

He was Head Postmaster in Luton, followed by a spell at the Management College in Rugby as Director of Studies.  He then became the Assistant Director, Finance running the Chesterfield complex, responsible for all the finance accounting of the Post Office.  His final jobs included Director for the North including responsibilities for Scotland and Northern Ireland and then Director of Organisation responsibilities for a series of one off organisations!

John left the Post Office in 1995 and set up his own management consultancy specialising in risk and crisis management working with a number of large corporate companies.

John is now fully retired and married to Ann, an elected councillor for the Almondbury ward, his interests include Rotary, skippering narrow boats with the Safe Anchor Trust, the Campaign to Protect Rural England, and is former President of the Huddersfield Choral Society.
