Education At Kirkwood Hospice
At Kirkwood Hospice we strongly believe that education is the key in understanding the needs of both people who have a life threatening illness and their carers. Once we understand these needs we are in a better position to learn the skills required, in order to provide high quality support.
Kirkwood Education Centre opened in 1997, as part of the building work to extend Day Care provision at the hospice. The centre provides an ideal venue for seminars, study days and meetings (away from the normal workplace). All facilities are independent of the patient areas offering a quiet environment, close to local amenities, free parking and on-site catering – all within a private, tranquil setting.
The accommodation briefly comprises of:
- Formal room for up to 30 people – suitable for large groups or those seeking space for practical demonstrations.
- Meeting room for up to 16 people – a more comfortable room with an informal seating arrangement.
- Both rooms have access for people with disabilities.
Audio/visual facilities are available including:
- Television/video
- Slide projector
- Overhead projector and screen
- Flip chart, whiteboard and pens
- Powerpoint projector and screen
Refreshments are included in the cost of room hire and a choice of lunches is also available (an additional cost applies), which can be tailored to an individual’s specific needs.
