Midnight Memory Walk
25th Anniversary Midnight Memory Walk – SATURDAY 23rd JUNE 2012
On Saturday 23rd June we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary with a very special Midnight Memory Walk. We look forward to seeing well in excess of 1,000 walkers forming a sea of silver and blue as they take to the streets of Huddersfield once again.
This 10 mile circular road walk, which starts and finishes at the Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield, remains the biggest Fundraising event in the Hospice’s calendar, not just because of the amount it raises for patient care at Kirkwood (over £400,000 since its launch), but also because it is the only event that brings together so many people sharing their memories, remembering their loved-ones. As this is our Anniversary year, we have made slight changes to the route (the optional 6 mile route will still be available on the night) and added a few new surprises along the way.
Registration will open at 10.00pm and there is a full entertainment programme at the Galpharm between 10.00pm and 11.50pm. There will then be a final warm up before a spectacular balloon release at 11.59pm. The yellow ribbon is cut on the stroke of midnight and the walk begins! The route is fully marshalled and there is first aid cover throughout the night.
On receipt of a completed registration form, walkers will be sent a pack which includes a T-shirt and sponsor form. The registration fee is £10 for adults and £5 for children aged 16 and under. There is no minimum sponsorship requirement. We hope that everyone will raise as much as they can for patient care All walkers receive a commemorative medal and a well-earned bacon butty at the end of the walk and a certificate follows on receipt of sponsorship monies.
