Circus Starr

The Circus With a Life Changing Purpose

In the last 9 years, Circus Starr has donated over £28,000 to Kirkwood and the Hospice would like to thank them for their hard work and generosity.

Circus Starr began 24 years ago when a family friend of the circus became very ill and began to rely very heavily on a local hospice for daily support. They noticed that in financial terms every day was a struggle for this local hospice and this was the case across the country.  They wanted to make a difference and Circus Starr was born.

Circus Starr is an all human touring circus which raises much needed funds for community charities from the sale of tickets and sponsorship packages to local businesses.  They are dedicated to working with the hospice movement and raising their profile within society.

Circus Starr is very proud to now be a Community Interest Company; this underpins what Circus Starr as a company has been doing for the last 24 years. They join over 3,100 CIC’s ranging from tiny community based organisations to multimillion pound enterprises. In essence Circus Starr as a CIC ensures that its profits are transferred to another organisation and to their charity partners.

Circus Starr also donates tickets to disabled and underprivileged children and their families who otherwise would not get the chance to enjoy the magic of circus. They profoundly believe that without Circus Starr many of these children wouldn‘t have the opportunity to enjoy such a day. This is often a unique experience that remains with a child for the rest of their life.

Circus Starr has already given over 1 million children this opportunity through their Donated Ticket Scheme and with the committed help from local interest groups, authorities, media and businesses throughout the UK, they continue to raise this figure.
