Midnight Memory Walk

On Saturday 19th June 2010 the Hospice is holding its fourth annual Midnight Memory Walk, starting at Midnight at The Galpharm Stadium. Once again walkers can choose a 6 mile or 10 mile route. The event is open to all and everyone is invited to walk in memory of someone they have lost. Every walker will receive a t-shirt and medal and certificate on completion of the walk. To join us on this very special night visit the Midnight Memory Walk page on this website to download an application form.

Department of Health Grant

The Hospice is pleased to announce that it has received a grant of £77,613 from the Department of Health as part of their £40million Capital Grants for Improving Hospice Environments programme. The grant will be used to fund improvements in Kirkwood's Support & Therapy Centre, including the creation of a more accessible and better equipped art room for patients, new consulting rooms and a new minibus to assist patients in getting to and from the Hospice.

Gift Aid Launched in Hospice Shops

In February 2010 Kirkwood launched Gift Aid in its 15 shops located throughout Kirklees. Since this time over 1,700 supporters have signed up to the scheme, helping the Hospice to raise further vital funds for patient care.

If you would like to join the scheme you need to be a UK taxpayer. Please ask in one of our shops next time you are dropping off a donation of items for sale through a shop. All that is required is the completion of a simple form, following which we will be able to claim an additional 28% from HMRC on every sale at no cost to you!

Volunteers required

Volunteers are needed for our new charity shops in Slaithwaite & Marsden. Please contact Judith Robinson for an application form on 01484 557900 or email judithr@kirkwoodhospice.co.uk
