Name: Sunflower Campaign
As summer approaches, the Sunflower Memories Appeal at Kirkwood slowly starts to bloom and unfold. This year, as the hopeful symbol of the sunflower is all the more relevant, we are delighted to launch the Sunflower Campaign.
"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflowers do." Helen Keller
The sunflower is the emblem of the Hospice movement, and we hope the Sunflower Campaign will bring the local community together at this difficult time.
Alongside the Sunflower Memories Appeal, this year Kirkwood has launched the Kirklees Sunflower Garden and the Sunflower Activity Pack to help bring a little sunshine into all our lives.
The current coronavirus crisis is having a profound impact on all of our lives. At Kirkwood, we believe that all of us are connected as members of a very special community.
We believe we can all help to take care of each other at this time.
The Kirklees Sunflower Garden is a virtual place our community can all come together to pay tribute to others, share special memories and offer messages of support, hope and encouragement.
We hope this will become a place for us all to reflect as we navigate our way through these uncertain times.
Please take a look at the page, use it in any way you like and share it with everyone you know.
During these uncertain times, Kirkwood's Family Care Team would like to offer some thoughts to provide support along the way. To view these, click here.
The Sunflower Memories Appeal is a beautiful way to celebrate the life of someone you love this July.
This year, we are unable to physically come together at our Annual Sunflower Memories event to remember our loved ones. But now, more than ever, we know that we need to unite and celebrate the lives of those we love and miss.
That is why this year we have created an online dedication page, a beautiful way to pay tribute to your loved one. This unique dedication page allows you to add photos and a personal message so you can share your memories with family and friends, wherever they are in the world.
When you make your special dedication, we will send you a commemorative card, bearing the name, or names, of those who you wish to celebrate and a pack of sunflower seeds. We hope that as you plant your sunflower seeds, and watch them grow, you will reflect on the precious memories of your loved ones.
Whilst the schools are closed, it may be challenging to keep the kids entertained all day every day!
With this in mind, Kirkwood is delighted to launch the Sunflower Activity Pack! It's filled with lots of fun activities that are sure to keep your little ones busy.
You'll find plenty of fun games, baking recipes, dot to dot puzzles and other activities - and they're all sunflower themed!
This activity pack is available to download at the bottom of this page.
Once you've created your fantastic designs, make sure to take a photo and pop them on social media, tagging @kirkwoodhospice and using #kirkwoodsunflowers to share them with Kirkwood, your friends and family!
And why not display the finished sunflower pictures in your window to spread a little joy!
