A Brush With Verse
A Kirkwood Hospice supporter, John Crowhurst, has compiled a wonderful book titled ‘A Brush with Verse’, which documents a diverse collection of poems, paintings and stories in rhyme.
John decided to embark on this comprehensive piece of work after being forced into retirement following ill health.
The book features many poems and short stories as well as 120 paintings, some depicting local scenes around the Kirklees Area.
John said: “The idea to compile this book was brought about by a regrettable forced retirement due to ill health.
"Over the years, I had accumulated a wealth of stories, poems, sketches and paintings, which reflected my love for art, gardening, nature and sport.
"Upon retiring, I decided to consolidate all this material, which was the basis for “A Brush with Verse.”
"As someone who is local to Kirklees, I have admired Kirkwood Hospice for a long time and would like to use my book to support their wonderful work." John Crowhurst
John added: “As someone who is local to Kirklees, I have admired Kirkwood Hospice for a long time and would like to use my book to support their wonderful work.”
A “Brush with Verse” is available to buy for £15. Profit from the book of £5 will be donated to the Hospice from the sale of each copy. To order your copy, please contact John on: 01924 467913 or the Fundraising Team at Kirkwood Hospice on: 01484 557911.
