Carers Tea Party at Kirkwood
On Friday 9th August, Kirkwood held its annual Carers Tea Party for those supporting someone living with a life limiting illness in Kirklees.
Kirkwood supports anyone affected by a life limiting illness in Kirklees, even carers. Every year, Kirkwood hosts a Carers Tea Party to celebrate the work they do when supporting those living with a life limiting illness.
On the day, Kirkwood staff transformed The Meeting Space into a lavish tea party, full of sweet treats and bakes. Guests welcomed the Dalton St Paul’s Singing Group, who performed a variety of songs for the Carers.
This year’s event was held in The Meeting Space due to unforeseen bad weather, however as the afternoon brightened guests were able to enjoy the event in the garden.
“It proved a lovely opportunity to chat with others.”
Carers enjoyed activities including a tombola and games in the garden continuing well into the afternoon. Kirkwood’s Volunteer Gardeners were also on hand to provide tours of the beautiful gardens surrounding the Hospice.
The Carers Tea Party is an important event for many carers across Kirklees, to come together and relax in a safe environment.
When discussing this year’s event, many carers provided valuable feedback of the day:
“It was good to be placed with people I hadn’t met before, I felt less lonely that day. It was a real pick me up.”
“The afternoon tea was very well organised with plenty of very lovely food and good company.”
