Celebrating a Lottery Win
Our Lottery is not just about winning the Jackpot. Did you know that each week we give away £1,000 in prizes including a Second Prize of £100, 3rd prize of £50 and five Runners Up Prizes of £20 on top of the £750 Jackpot?
In the last week of December and for the final draw of the year, Jeannie Ross and her husband, David, from Heckmondwike, discovered they were the lucky winners of £20 in the Kirkwood Hospice Lottery.
Jeannie, who used to work for Kirklees Council, attends a regular Coffee Morning with David and their friends where they always buy their Lottery tickets.
Jeannie said: “I’ve been going to these Coffee Mornings for seven years and always buy a Lottery ticket when they come around. I don’t often win things so it was nice to receive the letter!
“I’ve already put the money into my account. David bought me a pair of boots before Christmas but I’ll put this bit of money into a saving’s account.”
Jeannie and David don’t just support Kirkwood through its Lottery, they also regularly donate to their local Hospice shop.
Jeannie said: “We have regular clear-outs at home so all of our spare goods that we no longer need go to the Kirkwood shop in Heckmondwike.
“We have an on-going bag on the landing that we put things in and then we take it down to the shop.”

Kirkwood Hospice Lottery Manager, Dawn Walker, said: “Our Lottery is not just about winning the Jackpot. It’s a great way to regularly donate and every penny raised goes toward supporting those at Kirkwood Hospice diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses.
“We currently have 12,000 playing members who last year raised over £700,000 towards patient care. We can’t thank them enough for their support.”
There are many different ways you can support the Lottery. Be it joining as a regular weekly playing member or buying tickets in your local Kirkwood shop, it’s easy to get involved.
