Coronavirus (COVID-19): guidance on visiting the Hospice and helping us to keep our patients safe
2nd April 2020 - This guidance applies to everyone connected to Kirkwood in any capacity; working, volunteering for, or visiting Kirkwood Hospice, regardless of setting.
We take the wellbeing of those using or working in the Hospice seriously and appreciate your support in following the current guidance.
Our service users represent a potentially vulnerable group, particularly those who are in-patients at the Hospice.
We will follow government guidelines when determining necessary steps. These are updated daily and will be monitored by the Hospice’s senior clinical team. The government guidelines are available at the links at the bottom of this page.
If you are unwell with symptoms suggestive of coronavirus infection, particularly high temperature or a new continuous cough, PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THE HOSPICE and review the advice and guidance on the links to the GOV.UK and NHS UK websites below, or contact 111 if unsure.
If you are under the care of our Community Team and any of the public information applies to you or a family member living with you then please notify us before we visit you.
Due to the increasing numbers of people affected by COVID-19 we have had to make the difficult decision to further restrict visitors and visiting times on the In-Patient Unit in order to protect our patients who are vulnerable. Over the course of the next two weeks we may need to implement further restrictions. We will keep you informed of any changes. The below restrictions take effect from 2nd April 2020:
- Only two named visitors per patient will be allowed to visit and must visit separately. This will be the same two visitors for the duration of admission
- Each of the named visitors can visit for one hour per day at a pre-arranged time, which will be agreed on admission
- Children under 16 will not be allowed to visit
- Immunocompromised people will be advised not to visit
Any deviation from this will be at the discretion of the Sister Nurse and/or Clinical Services Manager.
Please note that this guidance is subject to change and will be regularly reviewed. If you have any concerns about your potential exposure to the Coronavirus infection, you should contact 111.
If you’re advised not to visit the Hospice, please call the Sister or Clinical Services Manager to discuss your situation on: 01484 557900
