Meet our Summer Superdraw winner!

We have a winner! 19-year-old Kirsty Dickinson was delighted to win 1st prize of £2,000 in the Kirkwood Lottery Summer Superdraw this July.

Kirsty Dickinson, from Dalton, is familiar with the work Kirkwood does in the Kirklees community, after dedicating her time to volunteering in the Waterloo shop for five years before heading to university.

Kirsty began her time volunteering back in 2014 as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Programme and once she received her Bronze award, Kirsty decided to carry on dedicating her time to Kirkwood.

Kirsty said: “I got on with the staff and volunteers really well. They became like an extended family to me, especially John, the former manager.”

Having started university in 2018, Kirsty had to stop her time volunteering but still continues to support Kirkwood when she is back in her hometown!

She made a special trip to the Waterloo shop whilst living back in Huddersfield for the summer and bought a single Summer Superdraw ticket whilst she was there.

When discussing her winning, Kirsty said: “I couldn’t believe it. I got the phone call and I was in complete shock, I still don’t think I’ve processed it! It’s all very surreal.”

Kirsty attends Edge Hill University in Liverpool and is set to begin her second year studying to become a teacher this September.

For now, Kirsty is saving the money she has won from the Summer Superdraw. As she is now learning the ropes of managing her money at university, Kirsty knows it will come in use over the next couple of years.

In addition to this, Kirsty would love to put the money towards a trip next summer with her university friends. Taking a whistle stop tour of the European cities or spending a couple of months inter-railing is on the top of Kirsty’s list.

Winning the Summer Superdraw has enabled Kirsty to have relaxing summer this  year, as she originally planned on spending it working and saving up for her travels.

Lottery manager, Dawn Walker, talks about Kirsty’s winning: “It’s wonderful that Kirsty spent so many years volunteering in one of our shops and now to win the Summer Superdraw! I’m delighted that her winning has now inspired her to keep playing the Lottery in the hopes to win again.”

The Superdraw will be back again this December, when we bring you our 2019 Christmas Superdraw where you have the chance of winning £3,000.
