Morrisons Foundation make a generous donation to Kirkwood Hospice

Kirkwood Hospice receives an extremely generous donation of £16,000 from the Morrisons Foundation to fund the upgrade of an onsite mortuary.

The Morrisons Foundation supports charities making a difference in local communities and has recently donated a staggering £16,000 to Kirkwood.

Kirkwood, which provides specialist care and support for people affected by life limiting illnesses in Kirklees, will use the donation to upgrade their onsite mortuary at the Hospice.

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.

Since launching over £25 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Morrisons Community Champion, Debbie Creaser, presented the donation at the Morrison’s Huddersfield store.

Debbie said: “Kirkwood Hospice is such a well-known and well respected local charity.  I’m really pleased that we were able to help them with this donation.

“I genuinely hope that it will make a difference to the patients there as well as their friends and family; everyone who is supported by the great work they do.  Helping local charities is at the heart of what the Foundation is all about and I’m so happy that we can provide this support.”

Kirkwood Trusts and Legacies Fundraiser, Wasim Hussain, was thrilled to receive the donation. He said: “As a Hospice, our core values are to deliver high quality, compassionate care for our patients and their relatives throughout the course of their illness and at the end of life.

“Our primary concern is always to treat people with dignity and respect. This commitment is just as important after patients have died. We are extremely grateful to the Foundation for their remarkable generosity.”
