One of Kirkwood’s long-standing supporters remembers loved ones on Tree of Memories
Denise Cobbett runs ‘Dee’s Support Group’ and is now one of Kirkwood’s long-standing supporters. Denise (Dee) has been fundraising for Kirkwood Hospice since 1985 in the local community of Kirklees.
Back in August, a beautiful handmade bespoke ‘Tree of Memories’ was installed at the heart of Kirkwood where individuals are able to personalise and engrave a leaf to remember someone special.
On one of Dee’s visits to the Hospice, the Tree instantly caught her eye and she was thrilled to be able to remember her loved ones in a new and beautiful way by having a personal message engraved on to a leaf.
Dee said: “I think the Tree is absolutely wonderful. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. Over the years, I’ve seen some lovely ways of how people can remember those they love at Kirkwood. For me, this tree tops everything. I’ve had a leaf done for my Mum and Dad, and one for my friend, Joanne, who died on Kirkwood’s In Patient Unit.”
Since the Tree of Memories was installed, Dee has been busy spreading the word to her family and friends. Several of Dee’s friends have had a leaf engraved for the people they love.
Like Dee and her friends, you can have a leaf on our Tree of Memories to remember a special person.
