The It’s A Knockout Team ‘Doing it for Dionne’

Kirkwood’s action-packed and foam-filled It’s A Knockout event is to take place this Saturday at Dalton’s DRAM Sports Centre, and there’s lots of reasons why you should come too!

Kirkwood’s It’s A Knockout-style event will be returning to Huddersfield this weekend as fifteen teams battle each other series of crazy games and vie for ultimate glory - all to raise funds for Kirkwood!

As well as coming along on the day to cheer on your favourite competitors or to support family and friends, there’s lots going on to keep the whole family entertained.

Why not come along to watch the teams of ten compete in the world’s most wacky event, while browsing a range of great stalls and enjoying a delicious Hog Roast and cheesy chips stall by The Greedy Little Pig Company.

Whether looking for a team-building afternoon with work colleagues, or choosing to raise funds in memory of a loved one, there’s many reasons why people have chosen to take part in Kirkwood’s It’s A Knockout.

Carol Sainsbury, Mandy Lindley, Rowen Timmons, Lindsay Ward, Bob Crolla and Trish Skenfield have put together a team to ‘do it for Dionne’, and take on the challenge in loving memory of Dionne Coburn.

Mandy Lindley, Dionne’s Sister, said: “Dionne was a very active person so that’s why we wanted to take part in events like this. Dionne was also an avid fundraiser so we’re taking over in her memory.

“Two years ago yesterday, she came into the Hospice before spending September here. She often called it the ‘5-Star Hotel Hospice’.

“She was a very determined and positive person. She even organised the Zip Wire fundraising event whilst she was staying in the Hospice. She made a joke out of everything, and that’s why we’re doing this.

“We’re expecting lots of fun, lots of money, lots of foam and maybe even a minor injury or two! We’re not competitive, but we do want to win!”

Why not join us at the DRAM Sports and Community Centre, Dalton, this Saturday? Although registration for this year’s event has now closed, spectators are welcome from 10:30am to 4pm to watch all the action at our Family Fun Day.
