Sarah Shaw
Director of Clinical Services

RNDip Adult Nursing BSc (Hons) MSc

Sarah was born and lived in North Kirklees before moving away in early childhood, but remains a ‘local lass’.

She graduated from Bradford University in 1998 with a Registered Nurse Diploma before working as a Staff Nurse in a local acute Hospital, where she gained experience in general and acute surgical nursing. She joined Kirkwood Hospice in 2000.

Sarah's personal experience of caring for a close family member with a terminal illness when she was a student nurse motivated her to join Kirkwood Hospice to pursue a career in specialist palliative care. In 2004, Sarah was promoted to Sister and in 2005 graduated from Huddersfield University with a BSc (Hons). She continued her studies at Huddersfield University, graduating with an MSc in Leadership in 2010.

Sarah has a special interest in Practice Development, organisational learning and management of complex wounds in palliative care.

There is a strong history of nursing in Sarah's family; she is the third generation to continue the tradition.
